Whether you are traveling alone, with a friend or with your family, Costa Rican Specialties can help you arrange your perfect customized vacation. We know our country well and have traveled there extensively; this is why we can give you first hand impressions regarding the qualities of your possible destinations. We offer great prices on our land packages because we work directly with hotels, bed & breakfasts, resorts, local business and all other service providers in Costa Rica. Our sister company Viajes Colibri S.A. (ICT license number OT-286) in San Carlos will make sure your reservations are well taken care of, and will be there in case you need to add any extra service or need any assistance while you are in Costa Rica.
How to Book a Trip
The first step is for you to tell us about your needs and interests.
When do you want to travel?
January through March are the peak months and the peak of the dry season but Costa Rica’s charms are open all year round, they’re just wetter in some months than others. What are your interests? Costa Rica is famous for bird watching, fishing, white water rafting, hiking. etc. What kind of accommodations do you want during your stay? There are great hotels at all levels, ranging from deluxe to rustic.
How do you want to get around?
Transportation is an important factor to take into account on your trip. Many clients take advantage of our excellent bilingual naturalist guides that have their own transportation so you can sit, relax and enjoy the scenery. If you are more adventurous and prefer to do your own driving we can make car rental reservations for you too. If longer distances need to be covered, domestic flights are also available and recommended to certain areas that are too far to drive to.
With this information in hand we will put together a custom-designed vacation for you and your family or friends. Once we have your approval on the cost and the itinerary we will make all the reservations in Costa Rica. Once we confirm availability we ask for a $300 deposit. (see Reservations). We will also help prepare you for all the details of your trip. We’ll make sure you know about money exchange (what and where), the climate, suitable clothing, entry requirements, transportation, food, customs, restaurant recommendations, maps, etc. Our goal is to eliminate the worries from your trip so that you can relax and enjoy the many pleasant surprises that Costa Rica offers.
Ask us also about flight information from the US to Costa Rica. We can help you book your tickets at really good rates.
We have over 20 years of experience working with groups from a wide range of interests. We’ve put together fund-raising trips for Botanical Gardens and Arboretums, educational trips for Spanish Classes, specially-designed programs for tropical ecology classes and even trips for groups interested in Costa Rican agriculture. A 60 member choir and a biking and hiking groups have also been added to our list of satisfied clients. Others include BOA (becoming an outdoor woman) and many different universities and birding groups. Our advantage over other companies is that we are all Costa Ricans with our families and friends living in Costa Rica. This gives us in-depth knowledge of the country and a wide net of contacts so that we can meet the specific needs and interests of each group.
As a regular part of our large-group trips we also organize:
Unique presentations by leading authorities on environmental and ecology issues
Trips to small and local agriculture businesses
Visits to private gardens
Hikes to out-of-the-way spots
Camping trips with traveling cooking crew.
Special visits to local farms
Spanish class programs
One of our most popular activities is the parties with people from our hometown of Venecia that we put together in honor of many of the groups. Each time we return to our hometown, friends and neighbors approach us to ask us when are we having our next party with a group of visitors. In this small town, life is simple but very typical of Costa Rica. Our parties represent a unique and special event for everyone involved and a great opportunity for cultural interchange that has led to many lasting friendships. For many of our group participants, the party is one of the real highlights of their trip.
Each of our large groups is accompanied by a local tour escort. These escorts are knowledgeable either of Costa Rica’s culture, environment, natural history and economy. This person also plays a critical role in assuring that all logistical issues are addressed and that the trip proceeds smoothly. Call us at 979 -219-2868 with your special request from your organization and we will make sure that your group returns home fulfilled, educated, and enriched – and longing to return to our beautiful land.
